FAQ about your photo session

what do we wear?

This is usually panic stations number one once the session is planned. What are we all going to wear?!

Our suggestion is to select a few colours that work nicely together, and then people can work from there in selecting an outfit that they are going to feel comfortable in. We don't have a "client wardrobe" as we want people to feel like themselves in their photos, and you'll also feel more relaxed on the day as well.

There are some standard suggestions on what to wear, but also some of these rules are made to be broken if it then means you're really showcasing your personality.

Neutral and pastel tones work really well together, you can then mix that with denim too. And also don't be afraid of patterns, just keep them subtle. A floral dress or a light checked shirt can look lovely mixed in with some plain colours.

If your family is all about BRIGHT colours then do it! If you're trying to suit what you think should be done, then you'll just look at your photos in years thinking about the clothing choice and not the magical moments in the image.

How long does a typical photo session last?

Our Freo minis are a half hour session, for these ones if you arrive to our studio at your session time we'll then go from there to a couple of nearby spots that suit the time of day and your style.

For our classic sessions, we allow an hour but then sometimes it's less, and sometimes it's more. We're not really checking the clock, we're there to capture a great range of images of your family with all the combos you'd like.

what happens if it rains?

If the weather doesn't cooperate on the day of an outdoor shoot, we can discuss alternatives such as rescheduling the session or finding an indoor location. We want to ensure the best possible outcome for your photos, and we're flexible in adapting to unforeseen circumstances.

If you really can't change the date due to people being in town for a short period of time, then we'll discuss what our Plan B options are. There are a few venues where we can get a little bit of shelter, our studio can accommodate small family groups, or we can look at hiring a larger studio space to fit everyone in.

How long does it take for my photos to be ready?

We'll have your proof gallery ready within a week of your photo session. We'll discuss with you about booking your viewing and purchasing appointment either in person at our studio, or on zoom.

What if we're unwell?

If someone in the family looks to be getting sick, please let us know as soon as possible. We can look at rescheduling, as this is a special investment so you want to be feeling your best.

FAQ ABOUT YOUR VIEWING AND PURCHASING SESSION

when will our photos be ready to view?

Your photos will be ready to view within a week of the portrait session. So if we haven't already booked your viewing appointment, we'll discuss this with you on the day of your session to find a time that suits everyone to be there.

This appointment can either be in person at our studio or on zoom. We highly recommend making the time to come into the studio as then you can see real life samples of our products.

What do I need to prepare for before the appointment?

Please review the price guide so that you're familiar with what we offer when it comes to displaying your favourite images.

If you are planning to order photos for your wall, please measure the walls, as then we know what size your images need to be.

Or even better take photos of these areas in your home with an A4 sheet of paper on the wall, and email/text them through to me prior to our meeting. Then we have that as a reference for making a mockup of your family photos in your home.

How much time to we need to allow for this appointment?

These appointments are anywhere from 1 - 2 hours, depending on what you would like to order. We'll go through the images and select your favourites, and then figure out the best products for displaying them. We can design wall collections to show you on the day, and album designs can be done in person, or we can provide a digital proof for final approval.

My partner can't make the session, can I just confirm later?

If all the decision makers can't make it to the session, then we will need to reschedule your purchasing appointment. That way everyone is on board with what it being discussed and there's no confusion.

How long does it take for my order to be ready?

Different products have different turnaround times, smaller items like our photo boxes have a 2-3 week turnaround and our wall art and albums are approx 4-6 week turnaround.
